The goal is for the child to develop various skills: unassisted step entry into water, sculling, feet-first surface dives, personal water safety skills and water safety awareness in an aquatic environment. The child will be encouraged to achieve 25 metres of continuous swim.
Skill 1 - Entries & Exits
Your child can perform a step-in entry
Skill 2 - Sculling & Body Orientation
Your child demonstrate sculling in an upright position for 10 seconds with arms only.
Skill 3 - Underwater skills
Your child can search for and recover an object in chest deep water depth.
Skill 4 - Movement/Swimming/Strokes
Your child can swim 25m using breaststroke, backstroke or survival backstroke
Skill 5 - Survival & Activity skills
Your child swim wearing clothing for 15m
Your child demonstrate flotation survival technique
Your child correctly fit a PFD, jump into the water and swim for 5 meters and climb out of deep water.
Skill 6: Knowledge
Your child is aware of water safety rules in various aquatic environments
